I'm Interested....How do I get a Referral?

We DO need a referral from your (or any) Doctor.  Please download the PDF, have it filled out and Fax it to 604-948-0275, or E-mail to twashinmd@gmail.com.   Your Doctor can also fill out a referral form on-line.  Please have recent blood work included.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE RECENT BLOOD WORK, WE CAN PROVIDE A LABORATORY REQUISITION.  We will try to book a time at our South Delta Clinic within a few weeks.

How does the process work?

Once you have an appointment time, you will chat with both our physician and our nurse.  An intravenous will be started (please wear loose clothing so that your arm can be accessed).   Please hydrate before your appointment to make IV insertion easier.  An infusion will take between 30 and 120 minutes, depending on dose and type of intravenous iron given.  The medication will be picked up at a nearby pharmacy and in addition, there will be a nominal fee for the clinic.

After the infusion, you may need to wait for a few minutes to ensure there is no reaction.   A follow up visit will be made (usually over the phone) after repeat blood work in 3-4 weeks.  If necessary, additional iron infusions will be arranged at that time.

What if there is a reaction?

Adverse reactions are rare and you do experience one, we have a number of corrective treatments available.  Our nursing staff and physicians both have experience in managing any possible complication.
